If Google Analytics' "Page Drilldown" on its interface makes you as cross-eyed as it does me, it's about to be a whole new world for you.
This nifty little extension takes but 2 seconds to install and will completely change how you view your website. Mainly because you'll be seeing it the way your customers do!
When I put it to work, this is how the front page of my website looked. Nothing complicated about it. Clearly, my website visitors and I had VERY different ideas about was important enough to put on my homepage!
It was a no-brainer. I was obviously wasting some prime front page real estate here. While Moonshine's Facebook group is an essential part of my business, it is something people come to eventually through a series of interactions. NOT on their first visit to the site.
Once that section was removed, I had room to experiment with using my new "Online Dating Profile" copy (left). Add in a few updated graphics and I was now cooking with gas. Over just a few days, I saw a 6.5% uptick in clicks from the new layout.
Now I'm busy repeating the process on EVERY page of the website. Analyze. Tweak. Repeat.
As I go along, I've been experimenting with how else to use the "Dating Profile" copy.
Here are my favorites.
1. Add personality to your guest post and podcast bios.
2. Throw out snippets as Tweets and status messages.
